(And the Blues City Intramural Open)
What is the CrossFit Open? The Open is an annual, inclusive, FUN, international competition that officially kicks off the CrossFit Games season. It’s a three-week international competition hosted by individual affiliates where anyone — regardless of fitness level or ability — can compete in the biggest fitness competition.
What is the Intramural Open? The in-house intramural takes The Open to the next level with an added fun, collaborative competition. You’ll be part of a kickass team (made up of other Blues City Members). Teams get points based on their member’s performance during the workouts, themed costumes each week, involvement in their week to host the potluck, how loud they cheer and judge, etc. All with the chance to win the coveted Blues City Cup and a little in-house bragging for the year/ It’s also a fun way to bond with the community and find new training partners.
Can I do The Open if I’m new to CrossFit? The workouts are tough, but they are written so that any and every CrossFitter can be successful. So… There’s no excuse not to participate!
What’s the cost associated with all of this? The CrossFit Open costs $20 to register. Why pay that? It’s an important step to make sure you log your workouts and standings year-over-year! It also allows you to see your global ranking each year and the inevitable improvements you make each year! Additionally, you’re more likely to take it seriously if you have a little skin in the game, as they say.
The Blues City Intramural Open is FREE! It’s just something fun for all of us to do as a community. However, in order to participate in the Intramural open, you must register for the main CrossFit Open Register for the CrossFit Open
