Blues City Fam,
As you can tell since our return, the gym is a little different this summer. With all the new guidelines and restrictions in place we are doing our best to keep our members as safely as possible during this weird time.
We are currently operating well under our allowed capacity of the gym to ensure enough space for our athletes to do their thing while working out.
Why we decided on July 4th
Traditionally Murph is performed on Memorial day as a community event inside the gym. Unfortunately covid had other plans as we were locked down and unable to host this annual event inside our walls.
The decision to move it to July 4th was made to allow us the time to train for 3 weeks inside our space so we could honor the fallen heroes at a later date.
The importance of Murph
Murph in the past has been a huge community event, and this year will be a little smaller than normal. County guidelines allow us to have a few more people in attendance if we can keep our event outside.
So to comply with the rules, we are hosting our first ever outdoor parking lot hero wod!
Murph will be performed differently this year. We will be allowed to have bigger class sizes (but still smaller than years past) with this outdoor/indoor environment.
The Workout
1 mile run (outside)
Then 5 Rounds
20 Pullups (inside with limited capacity)
40 Pushups (outside)
60 Air Squats (outside)
Then
1 mile Run (outside)
July 4th Class Times
7:00 AM
8:30 AM
10:00 AM
The plan is to have a few mats outside to do our pushups and squats on, then keeping the traffic controlled to the indoors for pullup work to be performed.
We feel like this is the best way to honor the workout we unfortunately missed on Memorial day while still keeping contact and traffic controlled for our athletes.
Haven’t signed up for a class time yet? We still have a few open slots, and once they’re filled you’ll only be able to get on the waitlist.
