We sat down with Cindy – a gymnastics extraordinaire and masters athlete – and asked her the pressing questions so you could get to know her a little better.

Preferred class time: I usually workout at 7 am, but I go in the evening as well.
What the heck do you do outside of this place?
I am the Dean of Academic Affairs for St. Louis College of Health Careers, a healthcare career college. For fun, I like to hike, go boating, garden, and of course, CrossFit. Most of all, I like to spend time with my family.
Fun fact about you
I know how to wakeboard.
What’s something not everyone knows about you?
I was a college cheerleader at Truman State University.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Chardonnay 🙂
What’s a goal you’re working toward?
I would like to learn bar muscle-ups; I have only done two of them, and I would like to learn butterflies. These skills will help me be a more efficient athlete.
What’s your favorite workout?
“Rosa” might be my favorite. 5 rds. – 400-meter run, 10 HSPU I like mixing endurance with skills.
What’s the hardest fitness-related thing that you’re always working on?
The snatch – Lifting is my weakness.
Why did you join Blues City?
I wanted to join a gym that had consistent programming that focused on all of the CrossFit elements…and my daughter, Izzy was there (Cecilia joined later.)
Everyone knows it’s a family affair here at Blues City – What’s it like working out with your daughters?
I love working out with Cecilia and Izzy. It makes me happy to know that they value their physical and mental health. We are all at different fitness levels, but that doesn’t matter. We have a great time encouraging each other to keep going.
What’s your favorite part about Blues City (What? We had to ask!)?
I think that the coaches at BCA are excellent! I feel like they genuinely care about your progress and offer great “tips” before and during the WODS. It’s not about being the fastest or strongest, it’s about being efficient and learning the skills safely and correctly. The community at BCA is so welcoming and the members are proud of their gym. The positive atmosphere is contagious!
I am so impressed with the number of elite athletes at BCA and their willingness to help other athletes, no matter the level. Not every gym is as united, and I really think that’s what stands out the most about BCA.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about starting CrossFit and/or joining BCA?
I would tell them to sign up, and that it will change their life for the better. Joining CrossFit is one of the best decisions I ever made.
